In general, there are two types of sitemaps. The first type of sitemap is a HTML sitemap page. This sitemap is a user friendly url to your deep page. HTML Sitemap listing the pages of your site - often by section - and is meant to help users find the information they need.
Second is XML Sitemaps - usually called Sitemaps, with a capital S - are a way for you to give Google or other search engine information about your site.
In its simplest terms, a Sitemap is a list of the pages on your website. Creating and submitting a Sitemap helps make sure that Google knows about all the pages on your site, including URLs that may not be discoverable by Google’s normal crawling process.
Sitemaps are particularly helpful if:
? Your site has dynamic content.
? Your site has pages that aren’t easily discovered by Googlebot during the crawl process - for example, pages featuring rich AJAX or Flash.
? Your site is new and has few links to it. (Googlebot crawls the web by following links from one page to another, so if your site isn’t well linked, it may be hard for us to discover it.)
? Your site has a large archive of content pages that are not well linked to each other, or are not linked at all

As far as I know make two type of that sitemap is better than one. Because you can first, with HTML sitemap you can guide visitor to your deep link, second; with XML sitemap you’ll guide search engine to crawl your site. I see this practise in my frien SEO Contest page.

They use 2 sitemap to joine SEO Challenge with key phrase Busby SEO Challenge.

I hope they can buzz their traffic and position with this technique.

After spending 4 days on the seocontest2008, my seocontest2008 blog have been occupied on the 173 position of international google index (www.google.com) and have been on the top 10 position of google indonesia ( www.google.co.id) with keyword seocontest2008. however, the struggle return to zero result again as the google kick my blog from her search engine!!!!!!what wrong with my seocontest2008 blog????

after five days never connect to internet, cause i must go back to my small town to celebrate Hindu Nyepi Holiday, and meet my lovely family. and that five days i never know what news in internet marketing.

one day, to pass away from boring time, i do blogwalking and visit another partner blog, and i see one interesting article about SEO contest 2008, that presented by uk webmasterworld.

that seo contest was begin from 1 february 2008, ( oh my god.. iam late…) and that seo contest will end in 1 april 2008 ( god give me wish.. and see who’s the winner ). at this seo contest all people around the world compete to be the first in google seach engine with keyword ” seocontest2008 “, and the reward for that is $1000 ( enough to get 1000 litre Arak Bali….heheheheh can make me all my friend DRINK Till DRUNK about one year)……..huehuehuhue………
